Transgender Day of Remembrance by queencolondarkwing Transgender Day of Remembrance by queencolondarkwing for more information on trans* individuals who were victims of beatings, rape, and murder around the world. This day is a day of mourning those lost but also to help spread support and shed light for a better future.

This isn't based on a specific victim since I thought drawing a real victim could never really be fair to their memory.  This is simply to show that often times people don't respect the gender identity of those who have died.  Newspapers, family, and even friends don't respect the victims true self - making their sacrifice be in vain.

All these anecdotes put me on nerves. I've already got my papers with my name and everything, but this still scares me, even having practice in a martial art.

I'm sorry for everything you've had to go through. It is something I could never truly understand. Queer individuals can hide who we are way better than trans* people can. All I can say is that the world is changing and hopefully one day we won't need to worry about transphobic violence against anyone not fitting their little mold of what gender should and shouldn't be.
Depending on where you live there are places you can go and people to call if you ever feel threatened. Just know that you aren't alone and there are those willing to help and protect you

Have the courage to wear the dress, have the wisdom to wear a gun.  No one ever bashed a Glock.
